AEM phase 2 & 3 - PROJECTS
Thepasteurisation and spawn run processes are crucial in the production of compost. During the phase 2 process the compost is pasteurized, this means that the compost has to follow a certain temperature curve to kill all the bad fungi and bacteria’s and make the compost selective for mushroom spawn. Once the pasteurization process is ended (approx 7 days) the compost will be emptied out of the phase 2 tunnel en filled into the phase 3 tunnel. During this operation mushroom spawn will be added to the compost. During the phase 3 process, mushroom spawn will grow into the compost in about 14 -17 days. After this period the spawn run tunnel can be emptied and the full grown compost is ready to be filled into the growing rooms.
For more then 40 years AEM has developed various tunnel systems for making phase 2 & 3 compost. From very small capacity (20 Tons) to very large set ups, for each project the best set up and tunnel type can be selected.
PHASE 2 & 3 TUNNEL – ENGINEERING
With our own engineering team AEM can execute engineering works for phase 2 & 3 tunnels, based on more than 40 years of practical experience! During the engineering process AEM will select the most effective design regarding tunnel type, capacity per tunnel, number of tunnels, dimensions, the required building materials and equipment. The engineering process will be executed in coordination with the customer so that customer needs and local conditions will be integrated from the start. AEM can cover all building technical and technical aspects of the engineering. The detailed drawings and design information of the phase 2 & 3 tunnels can be used by the local contractors. This way you can combine the latest international knowhow with low local building and or installation costs!
PHASE 2 & 3 – GRID FLOOR TUNNELS
Grid floor tunnels are worldwide the most common type of phase 2 & 3 tunnels. The grid floor tunnel type is most suitable for making compost on a big scale and automized way. With the grid floor tunnels several types of machinery can be used to fill and empty the tunnels and to transport the compost. Grid floor tunnels can be build up out of sandwich panels or gas concrete. This AEM set up of grid floors haven proven themself to be succesful in practice worldwide.
PHASE 2 & 3 – SPIGOT TUNNELS
AEM has developed and also supplies phase 2 & 3 tunnels based on spigot floors. This type of tunnels is very suitable for smaller operations. The main advantages of tunnels with spigot floors are the possibility to make your own compost on a small scale. And there is no need for expensive filling and emptying machinery, this saves a lot of costs. Wordwide succesfull AEM spigot tunnels are proof of concept of our spigot tunnel set up.
PHASE 2 & 3 – CONTAINER TUNNELS
For the smallest capacities (approx 20 Tons) AEM can supply phase 2 & 3 tunnels based on 40 ft containers. These containers, once equipped with an AEM air handling unit and compost computer a high quality phase 2 & 3 compost can be produced at minimal costs.
PHASE 2 & 3 –AIR HANDLING UNITS
Phase 2 & 3 tunnels have to be equipped with special designed air handling units for accurate control of the pasteurization and spawn run process. The air handling units are designed in such way that they can be placed at the back or on top of the tunnels. AEM develops and supplies a range of tunnel air handling units including centrifugal fan, cooling coil, air dampers, course and fine filters, frequency converters, servomotors and more. Central exhaust systems in combination with air scrubbers and bio filters can be added in case this should be required.
PHASE 2 & 3 – COMPUTER
For controlling the phase 2 - 3 pasteurisation and spawn run process AEM supplies automatic compost computers. The required process parameters can be inserted by the user in a logical and straight forward way. In combination with the measured oxygen level and temperatures the computer will control the process in the most optimal way.
PHASE 2 & 3 – MACHINERY
Depending on the size and set up as designed for each individual project, AEM can advice and supply you with the required set of machinery such as: filling cassettes, emptying winches, hoppers, filling lines, central conveyor systems, blocking press, compost turner, spawn feed conveyor, supplement conveyor and more.
